Kayaking at Blackridge

We took the kayaks and paddle board out to Blackridge Reservoir in Herriman for some afternoon fun. This was the first time we have ever taken the kayaks out, so the kids were so excited. This was the perfect place to play; it has a really nice beach, and also a grassy area and the water was great. We all had so much fun. The kids did really well on their kayaks and even Zac took one out a few times. He's a natural & figured it out right away. We might have to buy him his own.

Zac's Kindergarten Program

Zac's class did a patriotic end of year program today. It was really cute. Zac had a speaking part and did great. He has had such a fantastic year. He loved Kindergarten and didn't miss a day of school except for when we went to Disneyland. We hope he likes 1st grade just as much. He has made a lot of great friends and has already told us several times how much he is going to miss them.

Zac being presented with his Conquering Cub award from his teacher Mrs. Morgan They have to pass of all 40 "Kindergarten Missions" to earn this award. Great job Zac!

Kayli's 5th Grade State Fair

This is Kayli with her New Jersey State Float (The Garden State). She put a lot of work into her whole report and float. It turned out very nice. We all learned a lot about New Jersey; it was a fun project to work on with her. They were on display at the school today for parents and all the grades to walk through and look at them all.

Kayli's Spelling Bee

Kayli participated in the school Spelling Bee on Thursday. She made it through the 2nd round. We are proud of her for making it into the Bee. It's pretty intense sitting there watching all the kids spell difficult words and you can just see how nervous they are standing in front of a gym full of their peers and so many people they don't know. Some words are definitely easier than others. It was great to go and watch her.
Kayli with her BFF's Eliza and Riley, and the photo bomber is her good friend, Luke. I am glad he jumped in the pic too.

Memorial Day

We spent most of Memorial Day at the Museum of Natural Curiosity. Such a fun museum with so much to do. It includes the Children's Garden so we walked around that as well, and the kids played in the water too. We had a picnic and then finished it off with Slurpees, and came home and had a cookout. It was a great day spending it together.

Getting ready for school lunch in 1st grade

Anyone that knows Zac, knows he doesn't like to eat. It is a bit daunting to know that soon Zac will have to eat lunch at school by himself without mom or dad there to encourage him to eat, more than one bite. So I have started packing him his lunch when I pack the other kids so he can learn to sit and eat all of his lunch and open packages on his own. Yesterday I took him to school to eat lunch with Kayli so he could go through the lunch line and get his own food and eat it. Then he got to go out to recess with Kayli until Kindergarten started. He thought it was pretty cool, and a lot of fun to hang out with Kayli and her friends.

Bit of fun lately...

We took the kids to hang out with the dinosaurs at the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point last week. Playing in the water was probably their favorite. It was a fun evening.

We met my mom, Kit and Scout at Lagoon a few weeks ago. It was such a nice day. It was crazy busy, but we had fun anyway!

We have never seen a peacock this close. It was so pretty. It was almost like it was showing off for us.

Zac's Trophy

Zac finished up T-Ball and earned his trophy. He was so excited! He had fun playing T-Ball; he is definitely ready for coach pitch in the fall.

Kayli's Spring Tumbling Performance May 2014

Tonight was Kayli's Spring Gymnastic Tumbling Performance at Corner Canyon High. It was so fun to go and watch her and all the other girl's perform. Kayli's favorite trick is a round-off 2 back handsprings with a back tuck. Kayli works so hard and it really shows. She is such a strong little thing. We are very proud of her and love watching her. Click on the link below to watch her performance. (Kayli is the second to the right of the screen when they start)

Smarty Pants Kayli

Kayli has had such a great 5th grade year. This last week she has really shined! Tuesday they held class spelling bee's and she won 2nd place in her class. So she will move on to the School Spelling Bee which is the end of the month. When she came home from school on Tuesday and told me how well she had done, I was surprised that she hadn't told me they were having a Spelling Bee this week, and she told me she didn't want to tell me cause she knew I would make her study the words. We are super proud of her and can't wait to go watch her at the school's Spelling Bee in a few weeks.
Then today she called me from the bus to tell me how excited she was because she and her "team" of 3 other girls won 1st Place in the school's 5th Grade Science Bowl. We are super proud of her and how well she is doing in school. I love how involved she is and how much more exciting school is for her because of it.
(Wish I had real pictures, but these will have to do)
