Trick or Treat 2010

For Halloween this year we had a SWAT Guy, a crazy little monkey and a beautiful black cat. We had a busy day. I had to get up at 5:30 to make it to Provo for my race and then Tim brought the kids down to meet me at the finish line. As soon as we were done at the race we were going to Tim's parents house for the family Halloween party. I left a little bit early so I could get Zach home for a nap so everyone could go trick or treating. When everyone got home we ordered Chinese take-out for dinner, and as soon as we were done eating the kids went trick or treating in the neighborhood. It was pouring rain most of the afternoon and into the evening, but luckily the rain let up so the kids could go trick or treating. They came home with lots of goodies. It was such a fun Halloween this year!

Tim's family had a family Halloween Party Saturday afternoon. The kids decorated pumpkin shaped bread bowls, and then we had taco soup for lunch and donuts for dessert. All the cousins went trick or treating to the neighbors and then we played games.
All the cousins... Everyone looked so great in their costumes.

I beat my time!!!!!

Yesterday I ran my second half marathon, (Provo Halloween 1/2 Marathon). My goal was to run it in 2 hours, my last time was 2:04:05 and I just really wanted to at least beat my time. I ran it in 1:51:23!!!!!!! I was nervous about the cold weather and not being able to run it as fast as I did the last time because I hadn't been training outside in the cold. It only took the first mile to warm up and then I wished I hadn't dressed as warm. I guess the other runners felt the same way, there was gloves, hats, and costume pieces all along the road. It was a fast course. The first 5 miles were a steep descent which I thought would make it an easier run, but it made my calves burn so bad. The race course was beautiful. The canyon was full of fall colors and the temperature was perfect, and there were lots of creative costumes. I was really pushing myself to beat my time so I was so happy to see the finish line. The best part of it all was to see my family and in-laws waiting by the finish line cheering me on. Today I can barely walk and my legs are super sore, but it is definitely worth it!

How Adobe Celebrates Halloween

At Adobe, where Tim works, all the departments come up with a different theme and get a budget of $2500 to decorate for Halloween, by me saying decorate it is a complete understatement. It is amazing the work they put into it and the costumes are just as amazing. So on Friday we met Tim at work and got to go check it all out. It was fun to walk through and probably took us almost 2 hours to see it all. Tim's department theme was 70's Disco and they won 2nd place. The other departments were Gameland (had Lego Indiana Jones, Mario Cart, Mousetrap, Monopoly, Duck Hunt, & Battleship). There was a Hollywood Halloween Theme, Avatar, Artic Penguin Theme and had everything cold, and snow covered with a big igloo to walk through (won 1st place). Cereal Theme and everyone was dressed up in cereal boxes, Shrek theme with a real outhouse they built. There were real pine trees brought in, real rock paths, bark, dirt, sod. Amazing! Here are just a few pics. (I thought Tim had taken more pics, but he only took a few) I am sure someone will post a video on U Tube, and we will post a link later.

The administrative execs did a Sesame Street Theme and the CEO was Big Bird, there was also Elmo, Abbey, Oscar the Grouch and Count Dracula. They handed out the letter of the day which was Red Letter "A" sugar cookies for Adobe.

I tried to upload the video of the costume winner...it was a real looking lego guy with a red shirt with the Adobe logo on it. It was great!!

HaLLowEeN fun @ school...

Kayli and Tyler didn't have school on Friday, so all the school Halloween celebrations were on Thursday. They have a costume parade for all the grades and then each class usually has a party. I was lucky to be one of the "room moms" for both their classes. It was fun to be there and see all the cute costumes all the kids were in and be apart of the fun.

Tyler got picked to be King in his classroom on Halloween Day. (He gets to be the teachers helper all day, usually they wear a King hat and cape, but he didn't want to wear it over his costume)

Provo Halloween 1/2 Marathon

This Saturday I am running my second Half Marathon this year. With it being only a few days away I am getting a little anxious and nervous. My goal is to beat my last time of 2:04. I haven't been training outside, because it too dark early in the morning and late at night so I have done all my training on my treadmill, so I hope I don't freeze. I think that is what I am most nervous about. It should be a fast, fun race. Lots of costumes and fun. Wish me luck, and hope for nice weather!

SpOokY Cookies!

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. Lots of spooky and cute decorations, fun activities, dressing up, parties, costume parades, carving pumpkins and of course taking the kids trick or treating. I can't believe it is already that time of year. One of the things you just have to do is make and decorate sugar cookies, so that is what we did last night. They were super yummy, quite messy, but lots of fun!

More Soccer...

Kayli got on a great team for soccer again this fall. Our neighbor was her coach again, he is such a great coach for these kids. He takes it seriously and really wants them to learn the sport and do their best. Kayli is friends with most of the kids on the team, so that made it even more fun. They played hard, and did such a great job. Their games were always fun to watch. Way to go "Blue Flames!"

Soccer...

Tyler (#6) wanted to play soccer again this fall, so we lucked out and he was able to play on a team of kids from our neighborhood. They were the Fire Ninjas! It was fun to watch these little kids run around and try to kick the ball into the goal. After the way things went with Tyler in Spring soccer I had to come up with something to help him be more aggressive and hopefully play a little harder. I told him I would give him a quarter every time he kicked the ball. It worked great the first game, then I decided it is just the age he is at. None of the kids his age were very aggressive, and so he just needed to have fun, and we just needed to let him do his thing. (Photo of Ty with his trophy still to come)

UEA

We were so excited to have my sister and her kids coming to stay with us for UEA weekend. We went to Discovery Gateway, the kids had sooo much fun. We were there for several hours. We went to Gardner Village to see the witches, and walk around but it was so crowded so we didn't stay long. Then Jenn and I took the kids to lunch. Then I stayed home with the boys and Jenn took the girls shopping. Jenn and I made Blue Goose Broccoli and Cheese Soup and Ham & Cheese breadsticks, (recipes from the restaurant years ago) It all turned out soo yummy! Then I took Jenn and her kids to do family pictures for them, they turned out really cute! Then we took the girls shopping at Tai Pan. Saturday the kids played all morning and then Jenn left cause we had our family pictures planned to be taken. That night we rented "How to Train a Dragon" and had cinnamon rolls from Costco with our kids. It was a great weekend!
