Sandy City Police sponsored a program at Kayli's school for the 5th graders called NOVA. It stands for Nurturing Opportunities Values and Accountability. They learn how to be good citizens, holding their values high, making good choices and being accountable for the choices they make. Kayli learned a lot and really enjoyed the program. In order to graduate, one of the requirements was to write an essay titled "My road map to the path of excellence.", and Kayli's was picked as a top essay in her class. For "Project NOVA" they got to make a rocket if they chose to. Kayli's turned out pretty cool, she did hers out of duck tape of course. The students voted on the best rockets and she won an award for that as well . Hers came in 2nd in her class. Another challenge they had in order to make the "NOVA Pack" and earn an Elite award was no "electronics" for 7 days...no TV, movies, internet, computer, tablet, phone, etc. It was tough, but Kayli did it! All on her own, her choice! I couldn't be more proud of her and the hard work she put into NOVA. I was a proud mom at her graduation as she excepted her awards, and certificate. She couldn't have done a better job!
